Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
