The Perfect Pocket Monster Legends: Z-A Mega Evolution Based on the Zodiac Sign
This comeback of Super Forms in Pokémon Legends: Z-A has ignited widespread enthusiasm across the fandom. Starting with the one-by-one unveiling of fresh additions ahead of the game's release, to players developing firm views on the full lineup of Mega Evolutions, there's plenty for fans to look forward to.
Given many of the Super Forms boasting unique designs that highlight their personalities, one thought naturally: What's the best way to link this with astrology? The following is inspired by a blend of intuition, sign stereotypes, and individual observations.
Aries – Mega Camerupt
To be truthful, Houndoom was nearly selected for this fire sign, as both are the Mega Pokémon and astrological sign that evoke the greatest apprehension. But, a Super Houndoom appears as always angry, which isn't typical of the Aries vibe, renowned for being playful, cheerful, and spontaneous. This makes the Ram far more akin to Super Camerupt, which only spews lava when angered. Stay on the friendly side of both and benefit from a powerful partner; should you offend them, be ready to face the consequences.
Taurus – Mega Heracross
Much like a loyal Taurus, the steadfast Heracross, both in its standard and Mega form, has aided numerous trainers in Legends: Z-A. Though trustworthy, each the Pokémon and a Taurus are also Fighting types, and – whether it's their companion or a strong opinion – will stand up for their position unwaveringly. The thing about Super Heracross that recalls most of my Taurus friends, though, is its unashamed love of treats. Several previous Pokédex entries mention their craving for sweet sap and how it uses its horn to collect it everything, which is true Bull-sign vibe.
The Twins – Super Medicham
Observe this total queen. It's impossible to convince me this creature is not the life of every party, offering an constant stream of chatter to anyone who wants to hear. Much like an enrapturing, sociable Gemini, it's incredibly easy to envision Super Medicham captivating an entire open area with their stories. This Pokémon's Pokédex entry also mentions its ability to foresee an enemy’s next moves, which seems quite like a socially-savvy Gemini.
Cancer – Super Manectric
Cancer is commonly regarded as the most emotional member of the astrological wheel, a intense sign known for often becoming wrapped up in their feelings. According to the Pokédex, Super Evolution fills the creature with a “huge amount of electricity, but it's excessive for Manectric to fully control,” which seems a lot like a classic Crab crash-out. This Pokémon is also known for its capability to make a storm cloud over its very self – and if there’s a single trait a Crab is going to do, it’s spoil their good time.
The Lion – Mega Starmie
Well, did you think I was planning to pick Pyroar for the lion of the zodiac? Besides the fact that it would be far too obvious, The Lion is clearly Super Starmie, the star whose gams just went viral for being extremely glamorous (or horrifying, depending on your taste). Fans couldn’t look away from the violet sea star, and that’s precisely the same energy a Leo offers to the table. Starmie is also said to be transmitting radio waves from its red core out into the cosmos, and it’s typical of a Lion to be staging a show, albeit for aliens.
The Maiden – Super Victreebel
The ever-prepared and perpetually-anxious Virgo is perfectly encapsulated in Mega Victreebel, the Mega with perpetual digestive issues. The zodiac symbol famous for being charmingly judgmental is strongly reflected throughout this Pokémon’s entire evolutionary chain, from a perpetually shocked face like a Virgo when you tell them you lack a retirement plan, to its inverted visage that’s just like the emoji a Virgo sends to the chatroom when all says they want to “go with the flow” rather than making a plan.
Libra – Mega Audino
Observe this gentle, empathetic creature, who employs the sensors on its ears to detect how others are emotionally by their heartbeat. Always empathetic – occasionally to a fault – and striving to keep the peace, there are numerous Libras who would probably appreciate Mega Audino’s abilities. However, let’s be honest, it would likely just cause them to worry even more about everyone else.
Scorpio – Super Banette
This Ghost-type is a creature with a surprisingly sad origin: Discarded as a toy, it became sentient through pure hatred and swore revenge on its former owner. Per the Pokédex, Super Evolution, “increases its vindictiveness.” That seems precisely like several conversations I’ve had with my scary Scorpio friends. A Scorpion loves cosmic justice and retribution, making them the ideal match with Super Banette.
Sagittarius – Mega Hawlucha
Each Super Hawlucha and Archers are always putting on a performance. Being a Sagittarius myself, the amount of times I’ve referred to myself some version of a “silly little jester” is countless. The most flamboyant and most attention-seeking Super Form, its description even mentions how it “flexes to display its strength.” I would do the exact same thing if I had some kind of Super Form, making Super Hawlucha the most apt Archer match I can think of.
The Goat – Mega Absol
Did you know that a Mega Absol has the ability to foresee disasters ahead of time? That gives the exact same energy as a Capricorn, who often consistently think they’re right. Interestingly, similar to a visionary Super Absol, they frequently are. It’s also the absolute initial Mega Evolution that trainers meet in Legends: Z-A – just like a Goat to join the ground floor of the Super Form craze.
Aquarius – Super Chandelure
Detached air sign Water Bearer is possibly the non-flame placement that is closest to a flame symbol – its sister sign is Leo, and there are countless jokes about Sagittarius and Water Bearer being chaotic partners in crime. Super Chandelure's double Ghost/Fire category matches perfectly with this, and the Super Form's general intimidating aura is also very Aquarius. If you hadn't yet convinced, the Super Form's description says it “absorbs hatred and converts it into strength.” If that doesn’t perfectly {encaps
