The Streaming Platform to Bring a Popular Game TV Series from the Producers of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest Far Cry game that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for delighting in violence and insanity with the same enthusiasm, all while presenting engaging, ideologically themed narratives. Little surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two creators whose work have represented all of those elements.
What to Expect
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' format by having a fresh setting and group of personalities in subsequent series.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we do not know what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.
“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX partners constantly supports me with their ongoing trust and support.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone series. Every title is a take of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a story,” explained Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always examining the core of humanity through this intricate and chaotic lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and bring our shared bold, ambitious sensibility to the audience.”
A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
