Toronto Blue Jays Claim World Series Meeting Against the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer previously helped the Houston Astros winning the World Series in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their maiden championship series since 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing by two runs, Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh, propelling the sole Canadian team in MLB to a 4-3 series victory in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the forthcoming championship.

"I'm just so happy for everyone here, the city, our country," said Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "This is such an unbelievable moment."

George Springer has now connected for 23 playoff homers, ranking him third on the list trailing only Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).

"There's probably not another person anywhere that I'd choose in that moment except for Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked Schneider.

Seattle, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the sole team yet to make an appearance in a championship series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's going to sting" following his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but praised their work throughout the year.

"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we had to come out on the wrong side of this one," he remarked.

Toronto's team secured the championship on both previous visits in the early 90s, and will host the Dodgers in game one on the upcoming Friday.
